What's Kindy learning?
On September 8th, Kindergarten students conducted their stage Liturgy. Kindergarten students read beautifully through their prayers, the focus scripture stories and displayed their pictures of reflection. The students worked so hard to be reverent and respectful during their liturgy and sang beautifully to the song they had worked so hard to practice.
Literacy
In literacy, we have been learning about different types of informative texts. One text type in particular that we have been focusing on is what a procedure is through participating in ‘hands on’ and interactive lessons.
Kindergarten have become ‘chefs’ this week by learning how to make ‘Vanilla Pudding’ and ‘Popcorn’. They were all excited and enthusiastic to create party food whilst learning that procedures require things we need or ingredients as well as informing the reader/audience how to do/make something in sequential steps.
Whilst making these foods, students were actively engaged by listing all items needed as well as sharing interesting adjectives to describe how the food looks, smells and feels.
After all their hard work making their party food, needless to say Kindergarten enjoyed tasting their end products! Well done on your efforts Kindy!
Numeracy
This week in mathematics we have been looking at 2D shapes and 3D objects. Students have been creating their own 3D objects using popsticks. All of the Kindy students have learnt that some of the objects are easier to make than others but have been showing incredible persistence as they complete the task.

Last Sunday was International Womenβs Day! And I am so grateful for all the wonderful women I have had and continue to have the privilege of working alongside. The women of St Bernadetteβs are strong, compassionate and dedicated women who give their absolute everything for not only our students and this community but also for each other! A HUGE shout out to the students who competed in the Blacktown Zone Swimming Carnival last week!!! They did a wonderful job representing our school and swimming to the best of their abilities!! We had a very successful day winning a few races, breaking a record and some students going on to the Diocesan Swimming Carnival next week. Itβs time to celebrate all our February birthdays at St Bernadetteβs! This year we even have a leap year baby so he gets to choose to celebrate today or tomorrow - I wonder what heβll choose!!! Our kids have had a great month celebrating with family and friends, eating out at restaurants, going to Luna Park & Lasor Tag; having parties at home; eating some fabulous cakes; and receiving some pretty fabulous gifts including LEGO, a new phone, even a present from their Year 6 Buddy!
