What's Kindy learning?
On September 8th, Kindergarten students conducted their stage Liturgy. Kindergarten students read beautifully through their prayers, the focus scripture stories and displayed their pictures of reflection. The students worked so hard to be reverent and respectful during their liturgy and sang beautifully to the song they had worked so hard to practice.
Literacy
In literacy, we have been learning about different types of informative texts. One text type in particular that we have been focusing on is what a procedure is through participating in ‘hands on’ and interactive lessons.
Kindergarten have become ‘chefs’ this week by learning how to make ‘Vanilla Pudding’ and ‘Popcorn’. They were all excited and enthusiastic to create party food whilst learning that procedures require things we need or ingredients as well as informing the reader/audience how to do/make something in sequential steps.
Whilst making these foods, students were actively engaged by listing all items needed as well as sharing interesting adjectives to describe how the food looks, smells and feels.
After all their hard work making their party food, needless to say Kindergarten enjoyed tasting their end products! Well done on your efforts Kindy!
Numeracy
This week in mathematics we have been looking at 2D shapes and 3D objects. Students have been creating their own 3D objects using popsticks. All of the Kindy students have learnt that some of the objects are easier to make than others but have been showing incredible persistence as they complete the task.

Itβs time to say a HUGE HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY to all our beautiful children who celebrated their birthday in October, some of our kids even shared their birthday with another family member!! There were birthday parties, visits to Flip Out and Mt Annan, get togethers with cousins, camping trips and surprise visits to hotels. Yummy cakes were eaten including, chocolate, ice cream, Lilo & Stitch themed and Spider-Man themed cakes; and plenty of cool birthday surprises, even a remote control car, Demon Slayer toy and of course some LEGO!! Everyone loved celebrating their big days with family and friends!!! ππππ₯³πππ

As part of Year 5βs Science unit, students explored how engineers and inventors use creativity and problem-solving to make everyday life better. Their learning intention was: We are learning how to use design processes to explore opportunities and develop effective solutions. Given only rubber bands, marbles, and a piece of fabric, students worked collaboratively to design inventions that could help people stay cool on hot summer days. From hats and bonnets to neck protectors, and even a handheld fan weighted down by marbles, our young designers showed innovation, teamwork, and critical thinking. Proving that even simple materials can inspire amazing solutions! ππππππππ

Last week we had the final GALA DAY for the year - Stage 3 Touch Football!!! Both teams had a fabulous day, with one of the teams even getting through the day undefeated!!! Iβm wondering if you heard about last weeks β2025 Slam Jamβ that took place during playtime!!! We had students playing basketball and we even had VIP students who got to watch the action from a special courtside viewing area in which ice cold ice blocks were served!!! We love having Mr Ianni and Mr Reddy at our school always making our playtime FUN!!! ππππππππππ

Earlier in the week we invited our 2026 Kindy cohort to come to school for some fun Transition Activities. Mrs Buenaventura and I loved playing with them, reading to them and learning their names. About half the cohort came along and we are looking forward to seeing them again next week!!! ππππππππ

On Friday of Week 1, while Year 6 were reflecting on their time at St Bernadetteβs, Year 5 were busy learning about LEADERSHIP in preparation for their time in Year 6. They had fun working in teams, discovering their gifts and talents and more importantly learning about how to serve their peers, teachers and community through their leadership!!! 2026 looks like a fabulous group of LEADERS!!! πππππππ

Last week we started taking the students to Cavanagh Reserve for class sport lessons and lunch time and the children loved every minute!!! Thanks to all the staff especially to Mr Reddy and Mr Ianni for going the extra mile to make this happen!!! Not only did they get to enjoy some serious space they also simply enjoyed being able to play on REAL grass!!! The simple joys make such a difference!!! πππππππππ

Last Friday Year 6 had their Reflection Day. A special time to reflect on their primary school years, consider their legacy and plan for their graduation.
